Ultrasonic Humidifier

In warm climates and cold weather, dry air poses a huge problem. Ultrasonic humidifier exists to solve this specific problem. The problem may persist in all the rooms in a house including the living room, bedroom and kitchen. However, washrooms generally contain a higher level of humidity because of the excessive use of water; therefore ultrasonic humidifiers should not be used in bathrooms. They are readily available over the internet or home improvement stores, and are becoming an ever popular utility in the drier regions.

Human beings feel comfortable when the humidity level in the air is 30% to 50%. Below 30 %, it is considered as dry air and can cause several side effects to the health such as sore throat, stuffy nose, dry cough, dry hair, dry skin, nose bleeds and itchy eyes. Apart from that, home items are also affected a great deal by the dry air. The dehydrated air also causes the wood in the home furniture and hard wooden floors can be dried out, and under extreme conditions, the wood can become brittle and eventually crack starts to form. Another problem is the formation of static electricity in dry air, which can cause minor electric sparks inside sophisticated electrical equipment.

Ultrasonic humidifiers do not heat water during operation and the danger of burns is eliminated as there are no available hot water. This is a very good machine to use in a child’s room, as it does not make any noise allowing the child to sleep peacefully.

Unlike warm mist humidifiers, ultrasonic humidifier does not create any dust. The dust comes from the minerals present in the water, which is released in the air. Thus, no dust will form on top of the furniture. There is a metal platform inside the ultrasonic humidifier which catches all the dust and restrain in from being released in the air.

How an Ultrasonic Humidifier Works
They use sound vibrations to add moisture to the air which allows them to create a fine mist vapor of water into the air, – the mist itself being formed by a metal diaphragm which vibrates at a high frequency. The smaller size and compact design made it more popular those other humidifiers in the market, which can be fitted easily on any home items.

One important feature of the humidifier is its adjustable options for mist level. The moisture level in the air can be controlled using this function, while some can measure the level of moisture in the air using a built in humidistat. If the humid level rises too high, one can turn it off or put the mist level down.

Using an Ultrasonic Humidifier Safely

As the water is not heated, the mist can carry microorganism in the air from the water. This might allow the growth of bacteria and mold spores in the air. Eventually when this partially infected air is breathed, there is a scope of growing illness such as asthma or allergies. However, the following steps will reduce the risk significantly:

  • After every use, the water needs to be changed within the humidifier. The container should be emptied and washed properly with fresh water which should then be dried using a towel.
  • One should never left the water standing in the container as it will allow the growth of bacteria to a greater extent. After every use it should be filled with fresh water.
