Nokia Cell Phone

The Nokia cell phone is the world’s most popular mobile phone. More than one in three phones sold today is a Nokia and dozens of new models are released each year. In nearly thirty years, they have released over three hundred different models. Their early phones were given names but they soon shifted to a numerical system which is still used today. Most phone are grouped into series ranging from the entry-level 1000 series to the premium 8000 series. There is also the E-Series series, N-Series series, and the N-Gage mobile gaming phone.

Nokia originated in Finland in 1865 as a group of three companies that made paper and rubber goods. It quickly branched out into emerging field of electricity generation before becoming the telecommunications giant it is today. It is named after the Finnish town of Nokia, which itself is named after the Nokianvirta river that flows through the town. The Nokia corporation was formed in 1967 with the merger of the three companies. Today, it is the largest and best regarded employer in Finland and is an important part of the Finnish economy.

Anyone looking for an entry-level Nokia cell phone should consider the 1000 and 2000 series. These inexpensive phones are designed for the prepaid market and have only basic features. The 2000 series phones are slightly more expensive and have a few advanced features, such as a camera or Bluetooth. Almost all 1000 series phones have a small monochrome screen but many 2000 series phones have a color screen. While these phones are suitable for first-time users, active users will want more advanced models.

A mid-range Nokia cell phone can be found in the 3000 and 5000 series. These phones have advanced features such as a larger screen and FM radio. Most of them also support the General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) and Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) which are used for transmitting data. They can also download and run Java applications and games. The 3000 series are fashionable phones marketed at younger users. The 5000 series includes the XpressMusic phones, which feature an MP3 player and memory card support for storing songs.

The high-end Nokia cell phone series are the 6000, 7000 and 8000. The largest group is the 6000 series which have conservative designs and are marketed at business users. The 7000 series are a line of fashionable smartphones that are popular with women. They have eye-catching designs and use materials not often found on mobile phones, including amber and turquoise. Some 7000 series phones are marketed under the L’Amour Collection brand. The 8000 series are expensive premium phones designed for the luxury goods market. Many of these phones have attractive stainless steel and titanium finishes.

The E-Series are Nokia smartphones designed for the business market. They support push email services that are always active and send new emails to the phone as soon as they are received. Many also have large displays and keyboards that make it easier to read and write emails. Nokia also make a range of multimedia smartphones, called the N-Series. They offer greater support for playing music, recording videos, web browsing, and playing games. They support 3G wireless technology that allows data to be transferred at a faster rate.

The N-Gage is a Nokia cell phone designed for the mobile gaming market. It was launched in 2003 and only sold about three million handsets because competition from the Nintendo DS and Sony PlayStation Portable made it difficult to build a large user base. It had superior graphics to other phones at the time and could use game cartridges. The original N-Gage was derided for its unusual appearance and the shape was subsequently changed for the latest model, the N-Gage QD.
