Generally it is not recommended to use cable equipment or any machine equipment for that matter. For the best possible results you should be using free weights for your exercises.
If you are limited to only using a cable leg press machine then it should not be a major deal. The amount of weight that you can press may be slightly different on the machine then it is with the sled leg press machine. The cable leg press machine is much easier to use though as the weights are all connected via a cable that lifts the weight stack. There is no need for extra security precautions with a cable leg press machine and just about anyone could use it.
