Downfalls of an Indoor Golf Simulator
The main downfall of an indoor golf simulator is that it is just a simulator. While it can mimic some parts of the golfing experience, it is not the same as playing on an actual golf course. It will help with improving your golf swing a bit but the results will not be as amazing as they would with professional coaching. You also do not get to factor in the natural bodily experiences (exhaustion, excitement, etc) and these could play a role in how well you would do on a real golf course.
Another major issue with using an indoor golf simulator to improve your game is that it does not really force you to work on your stance at all. This could end up damaging your game quite a bit when you stop using the simulator and go out on the golf course. If you were to follow the poor stance you had in the simulator on the golf course, it would not work so well. Then, when you finally find someone to teach you the proper stance, your swing will not be as effective as it seemed with the simulator.
An indoor golf simulator can be very entertaining and helpful to an extent. It can provide you with the playing experience that you need to start being a decent player. If a beginner wants to just drill off a bunch of shots and decides to avoid the driving range, then the indoor golf simulator would be ideal for him or her. There are other scenarios as well where the indoor golf simulator may be the best choice. However, when it all comes down to it, the simulator cannot match the real golfing experience.
