Cell Phone

While there are many different types of phones to choose from, the important thing is to find the phone that will work out best for you. Some people prefer a cell phone that can also work as a personal digital assistant (PDA), and if this is the case with you then you will want to make sure that you choose one that you feel comfortable using on a daily basis. Since the phone will have to hold a lot of personal information you will also want to make sure that it follows a format that you are comfortable using. Some people prefer the Apple iPhone because of all of the applications that you can download and use to help personalize the cell phone. However, there are others that prefer a different format of cell phone that does not rely on a touch screen.

Apple released it’s newest cell phone 3G technology about 8 months ago when it put the iPhone 3G on the market. Ever since its release, people have been going wild over cell phone 3G technology. However, Apple is not the only company with phone 3G technology now. Many competitors have come along and many more are set to release their version of the phone 3G handsets. The all have fantastic software available so that users can add tons of other applications too. 3G Cell phone technologies make these phones true smartphones. Not only do these phones have touch screens, but they can transfer data up to 3 Mbps. This means they can download a 3 minute mp3 song in about 15 seconds. Compare that with the older 2G phones that could only download that same 3 minute mp3 song in around 8 minutes and you can see what a difference in download capabilities makes. You can now have your song transferred almost instantaneously.

The third generation cell phones offer amazing high speed data transfer rates and make for the fastest download speeds imaginable. You can send and receive large multimedia files from the internet in lightening fast speeds. The cell phone 3G technology has made these phones into little mini-laptop devices. They can accommodate high speed applications for such things as video conferencing, faxing, video streaming and can instantly down load email for you. That includes downloading the attachments too. Cell phone users can access the internet via WiFi and GPS is available on the phones via satellite. This helps navigate where they are at any given moment.

The third generation cell phone user will also have faxing capabilities and can use high resolution and multi media services from their phone. Online bill paying is a breeze with these phones too. The phones are all set up so that all you have to do is touch the screen to get to whatever you want to do. Banking and bill paying, accessing the internet, checking your email, checking theater times, ordering take out, even txt messaging is so much easier using phone 3G technology. Business people can make dinner reservations or reserve hotel rooms for business trips and get a taxi quickly with these phone 3G capabilities.

People are using their new 3G phone to not only communicate easier, but they are using them for entertainment. Imagine this, you don’t have to be bored while waiting for the dentist. Just watch a movie on your cell phone. If your friends have phone 3G technology on their cell phones, you both can have video conversations. Young subscribers are even using their phones for multiplayer gaming which is becoming more and more popular these days.

It is hard to imagine any disadvantages, but there is one that 3G phone technology has. That disadvantage is the price. These phones are very costly if you are not signing up under a contract for service. These phones are a lot more expensive than the 2G phones. In the beginning, the Apple I-phone 3G was the only one available and people were so excited about it that they stood in line for days to be one of the first owners of this new technology. Since then however, other cell phone companies have come out with their own version of phone 3G technology. The new Palm Pre phone 3G by Sprint is set to come out soon. Rumor has it that this new phone 3G will be released some time mid summer 2009. Samsung, T-Mobile and the Blackberry all have 3G technologies on their phones too.

If you are just looking at a traditional cell phone, then there are still a lot of different options that you will want to choose from. For example, if you like to have a flip up phone over a flat model cell phone that is one consideration, but you also should find out what the internet options are and whether or not the cell phone that you are considering comes equipped with a camera. If this is something that you are interested in then you should definitely check into it as a cell phone is the one thing that you do not necessarily want to upgrade to later. The reason for this is because it can be costly to buy a new phone before your contract comes up so you want to make sure that you choose the option that you like on the first time around so that you do not have to deal with the complications of exchanging it later on.

Another thing that you should research completely before you decide on a cell phone is the provider that you are going to go through. When you get a cell phone (unless you opt to go with a pay per use phone) you will have to sign a contract with a service provider. This means that for the next two to three years that you use the phone you will be tied and connected to the service provider and you will have to be comfortable with the plan that you signed up for. It is not that difficult to upgrade or downgrade your cell phone service later on, even if you are under contract. But you can still find that you do not agree with their billing practices and you cannot get out of your contract that easily, so be sure to fully research the cell phone company as well as the phone itself just to make sure that you are getting exactly what you want. Once you do this, then you can start to look through the available phones that to find the one that the company offers that best works for your needs.
